The Best Commuter Lightweight E-bike

Accolmile – 250W Mid Motor Bafang

The style of this bike reminds me of classic Dutch bikes, but the similarity ends in its style. The aluminum bike comes with the Bafang M200 mid-drive 250Watts and a 36V, 15Ah integrated battery. The bike is light, only 26,5 Kg and the weight is very well balanced and centralized, pedaling is necessary to activate the motor and to push the bike.

The motor is there only to assist the rider. So you do get some exercise, like with any bike. It comes with five levels of Pedal Assistance and an eight-speed Shimano Altus Derailleur. Shifting gears is necessary if you want to go faster or climb.
This bike is designed according to the European E-bikes legislation, so there is no throttle and the maximum speed is set to 25km/h.
The 36Voltts, 15Ah is huge for such a small drive, with a range of more than 100km. If you run out of battery, cycling this bike without motor assistance is possible and not heavy!

Recharging the battery takes around seven hours and can be done by removing the battery or attached to the bike using the charging port. It comes with two keys to lock and unlock the battery compartment, but the keys are not necessary to run the bike.

The 28-inch wheels are light and there’s some sort of reflecting stripes on the tires for safe night rides. It’s a hard-tailed bike with no adjustments on the front suspension, which works really well.
It comes with good hydraulic brakes and a 180mm front disk to stop the bike.
The headlight and taillight are integrated into the system and can be operated using left-hand controls. There is no day/night light detector and the brake light is activated when pushing the brake levers.

The handlebar is compact and the stem offers a lot of adjustments for the perfect fit. It comes with a useful bell and the Bafang LCD display is simple and efficient. The cable management is very well-done and clean running inside the frame.
But if there’s one thing to complain about, it has to be the saddle. Unfortunately, it’s one of the worst I’ve ever tested. It’s way too hard. Anyway, I will add some affordable replacement saddles in the description below. The plastic fenders might be hated by some people, but they are light, quiet, and easy to replace.

The frame is well built and very comfortable to use. I’d love to see more color choices though.
A great assisted ride experience, no cruise control, no intelligent systems, just hop on and enjoy the ride! A perfect bike for commuters over 165cm and under 186cm.
