How CHOPPER BIKES are made?
What machines are needed to build a bike?
The answer is unfortunately not so easy. It depends a lot on the frame you want to build, which parts will be used or designed and built. The simplest answer to the minimum machinery would be a pipe bender, MIG or TIG welding, a table drill, and a disk cutter.
The bike we see in this video was made from a pre-existing frame the customer had and wanted to build a chopper bike with it.

The frame had an interesting design, but it was very small and the rear fork would not hold all 26 “x4”. We would undoubtedly have to increase the space reserved for the rear wheel.
Another problem is that our client is very tall and then we would have to increase the staff.
When we solved the size problems, the second step was to create a fake but realistic gas tank. Based on real motorcycle tanks, we started the project by designing and modeling the tank with paper sheets. We knew it should have sharp angles and the shape we were looking for. Once ready with paper, we start cutting, welding and modeling the metal tank.
To put the tank on the bike, we also needed to change the finish on top of the frame to create a unique look.
After having all the parts welded in the frame, we start the finishing process, sanding the excess weld and edges. With the picture practically polished and without defects, we send it to powder paint.
We also customized the Shimano Nexus 8 hub (painted black), changed the shape of the fenders to accommodate the fat tires and created a huge front light.
The front light design was based on an old motorcycle light. We had to cover the cable holes and weld some extra supports. A system of rechargeable LEDs was installed and the front light was very interesting.
With all the parts ready, we started the final assembly process.
The whole project took about three weeks to complete and the customer was very happy with the bike result.
