Nexxbike X5 Plus Review:

The Boldest E-Bike You Won’t Ignore

Some will love it, others might say it’s too much—but one thing’s for sure: the Nexxbike X5 Plus is impossible to ignore.
Let’s find out if it’s the right ride for you.

Nexxbike X5 Plus

First Impressions & Unboxing

The Nexxbike arrives in a huge, well-secured box, and assembly is similar to a standard e-bike—just with a few differences. Don’t worry, I’ve got a full step-by-step tutorial right here!
The first thing you’ll notice? This bike is massive and has an aggressive design. It’s built by a company with motorcycle experience, and you can see the influence—it looks and feels a lot like a sportbike. From the first ride, the motor placement and weight distribution reminded me of a scooter. And trust me, you won’t go unnoticed on this thing—people stopped me at every turn to ask about it!
The torque is impressive, the suspension is dialed in—so let’s check out the specs!

What I Love About the Nexxbike X5 Plus

The first thing that stands out on this bike is the massive, centrally located battery. The removable 48V, 25Ah Samsung-cell battery can be charged on or off the bike. It fits inside the frame and locks in place at the rear, leaving part of it exposed. I like seeing Samsung cells here—this battery should last a long time! It also has two USB ports, which is a nice touch.

And if you need even more range, you can upgrade the battery to a 50Ah version, which drastically increases the bike’s range—perfect for those long rides or extended trips!
On my first ride, I managed 41 km, mostly using PAS 4. With my 80 kg weight and the bike’s 55 kg, the battery drained faster than expected. Trust me, you don’t want to run out of power—pedaling this beast home would not be fun! Like most moped-style e-bikes, it’s heavy, and the riding position isn’t the best for pedaling. The claimed range is 120 km, which might be achievable if you stick to PAS 1 or 2 and weigh around 70 kg. A full charge takes about 8 hours.
Now, let’s talk about the motor—this thing is a beast! There’s some debate about whether it qualifies as a mid-drive, but since it’s mounted centrally, I’d say it does.
Nexxbike equips the X5 Plus with a 750W hub motor, positioned below the battery and paired with a motorcycle-style chain system and a 17-tooth motor sprocket. The result? 87Nm of torque and climbing capabilities up to 60°!

With the right mechanical gear selection, it already feels fast even at PAS 1. And on a flat road, I managed to hit a top speed of 54 km/h—you can definitely feel the power!

Frame, Suspension, and Ride Quality

The Nexxbike X5 Plus isn’t just another e-bike—it’s a statement. The one-piece aluminum chassis integrates the front fork and rear suspension directly into the design.
This setup adds stability and protects key components like the battery, motor, and suspension, but it also contributes to its 55 kg weight.

That said, the frame design works beautifully with the rear sport suspension and fork. Smooth, stable, and adjustable, the rear suspension allows taller riders to dial in their setup.
At 178 cm, I maxed it out for the highest setting, and it felt just right.
The front fork is inverted and non-adjustable, but it performs flawlessly. Combined with the 20” x 4.0” road tires, the bike delivers a smooth and steady ride on paved roads.
However, for off-road adventures, swapping the tires for more rugged ones would be a smart move.

Braking & Safety Features

Another motorcycle-inspired feature? The hydraulic brakes—and they mean business. The 180mm rotors provide strong stopping power, and the motor cut-off sensors add extra safety.
The handlebars pack a lot of controls, including the computer remote, NFC sensor for security, and turn signal buttons.
The NFC system is a great anti-theft feature—you can’t start the bike without the NFC card.

Pros:

– Powerful motor with 87Nm of torque
– High-quality 25Ah Samsung battery
– Racing-grade hydraulic brakes
– Excellent front and rear suspension
– Well-balanced weight distribution
– Large headlight and taillight with brake light functionality
– NFC Key for extra security
– 3 USB ports, plus a 12V connector
– Budget-friendly, priced under $2000

Cons:

– Heavy bike, making it less portable
– Battery could be upgraded to 52V for better power delivery
– Saddle design could be more comfortable
– All-terrain tires would enhance off-road capability

Comfort and Additional Features

The bike comes with a large saddle that can move in both directions for a better fit. However, I found it a bit too firm. Luckily, Nexxbike offers alternative saddles that might be more comfortable.
The headlight is powerful and stylish, with a permanent ring light for visibility. The turn signals work well, but I often forgot to turn them off—an audible reminder would be helpful.
The bike also has three USB ports and a 12V connector, making it easy to charge devices on the go. The fenders do a decent job at keeping you dry, and the rear fender even has space for a license plate.

Price and Final Considerations

As of this recording, the Nexxbike X5 Plus is available for just $1500 on their official website. That includes a 1-year warranty and free delivery across the USA, EU, and UK. Plus, if you mention BK42 Cycles, you’ll get $50 off!
Honestly, I’m a fan of this bike! I love its innovative design, the quality of the parts, and how it rides. It’s definitely not for everyone—it has a motorcycle-like feel, but it’s customizable and built to last.
Just keep in mind that, like all e-bikes over 250W, this one isn’t street-legal in the EU. Be sure to check your local regulations!

If you’re looking for a unique, powerful, customizable e-bike that will turn heads, the Nexxbike X5 Plus is definitely worth considering!
Alright, folks, that’s a wrap. I hope this blog gives you a solid overview of this exciting electric bike. See you in the next one!
