Jansno X70 E-Bike Review:
A Two-Battery Moped-Style E-Bike for Under $1,000!
Today, I’m going to show you a moped-style e-bike with two batteries that costs around a thousand dollarsโand if you stick around until the end, youโll pay even less!
Welcome to the review of the Jansno X70!
First Impressions
The Jansno X70 arrived well-packaged in a large, heavy box. The assembly process was simple and quick, and you can check out my assembly guide video right here. The bike is a solid, robust piece of machinery, a bit different from other moped-style e-bikes Iโve tested recently.
First off, the Jansno X70 stands out because itโs made of steel, not aluminum. Itโs also taller, comes with two powerful batteries, and was designed to be more affordable than many competitors.
Now, letโs break down each part of this e-bike, so you can decide if itโs the right ride for you.
Key Parts and Specifications
750W Motor:
The X70 is equipped with a 750W motor integrated into its magnesium wheel, making it both quiet and capable. It delivers 60 N.m of torque, which is great for urban hills and light off-roading. However, due to the bike’s weight, the motor doesnโt give you a strong burst of acceleration, especially when factoring in rider weight.
Speed and Range:
Out of the box, the top speed is limited to 25 km/h, but you can unlock speeds up to 45 km/h by disconnecting a cable under the seat. The X70 isn’t built for racingโitโs meant to take you farther, not faster.
With two removable 48V/34Ah batteries, Jansno claims a range of 180 km. In my testing (I weigh 81 kg), I achieved 82 km using pedal assist levels 3 and 4, with some throttle use.
With pedal assist set to level 1, you could definitely go further.
Battery Setup:
The removable batteries are convenient for charging separately or carrying upstairs. However, I noticed some rattling from the top battery on rough streets, so I had to secure it better.
Still, the dual battery system is a major advantage for long rides.
Suspension and Ride Quality:
The rear shock is well-protected and enhances the bikeโs aesthetic. The front suspension is sturdy but basic, with no adjustments. For urban riding, it works well, but for serious off-roading, you may want to upgrade.
Brakes:
This is where I had my biggest issue: the mechanical brakes. The X70โs 160mm discs just arenโt enough to stop this heavy bike effectively, and they tend to be noisy. I recommend upgrading to a hydraulic brake system for better safety and performance. Fortunately, the brakes do have cutoff sensors for added security.
Handlebars and Controls:
The motorcycle-style handlebar is comfortable and adjustable. The right side features the rear brake, gear shifters, throttle, and ignition key, while the left side houses the front brake, light controls, horn, and a monochrome display with a USB port (handy for charging your phone).
Features:
Frame: Carbon Steel
Weight: 44.5 kg
Motor: 750Wย hub drive
Battery: 48V,ย 34h
Brakes: Mechanical disc brake
Tires: 20 x 4 Fat Tires
Gears and Pedaling:
The Shimano 7-speed gear system works fine, but donโt expect effortless pedaling. The moped-style frame isnโt really designed for serious pedaling, and at higher speeds, it feels like youโre โghost pedalingโ with little resistance.
Torque Sensor and Pedal Assist:
The X70โs torque sensor is responsive and adjustable. With pedal assist levels from 0 to 5, you can easily find the right level of support for your ride. Plus, the bikeโs factory settings comply with European Union e-bike regulations.
Steel Frame:
Built for taller riders, the X70 accommodates people from 1.65m to 1.90m and supports up to 150 kg. Its retro design and balanced battery placement make for a stable, comfortable ride that feels more like a motorcycle than a bicycle.
Lighting:
The X70 shines (literally!) when it comes to lighting. The powerful front light, along with side and rear signal lights, offer excellent visibility, even when the bike is off.
Thereโs even a license plate holder under the rear light for those who need to register their bike.
Tires and Other Features:
The 20″ x 4″ Chiao Yang tires complement the retro design and provide solid stability. The plastic fenders are decent for wet conditions, and the large, cushioned seat adds comfort to your ride.
However, the kickstand feels a bit flimsy.
