If you’re on the hunt for an e-bike that combines style, comfort, and value, the Michael Blast Ponyboy might just be your next ride. This retro-style electric bike is not only eye-catching but also budget-friendly, making it a strong contender in the e-bike market. But does it live up to the hype?

From the moment my Ponyboy was delivered, I knew I was in for something special. Michael Blast uses a delivery service that specializes in big, fragile items, ensuring that the bike arrived from France to Poland in pristine condition. The careful packing and attention to detail during shipping were impressive and set the tone for what was to come.

Design: A Nod to Nostalgia

One of the first things that struck me about the Ponyboy was its design. This e-bike screams retro cool, with its vintage motorcycle-inspired aesthetic. The colors, the battery art, and even the racing sign on the back make it stand out from the crowd.
The Michael Blast branding is subtle yet effective, with the logo featured on almost every part of the bike, down to the keyring. The Ponyboy exudes a classic vibe that’s hard to resist.

Performance and Power: Small but Mighty

Don’t let the Ponyboy’s retro appearance fool you—this bike packs a punch. The 250W Michael Blast-branded motor is both powerful and quiet, delivering a surprisingly strong torque, especially when you hit the throttle.
Even when the bike is locked at 25 km/h to comply with European regulations, the power is palpable. After unlocking the full 80 N.m torque, the Ponyboy transforms into a speed machine, capable of reaching up to 46 km/h.
It’s fast, it’s fun, and it handles city hills with ease.

Battery and Range: Ready to Roll

The 48V, 13Ah battery is as stylish as it is functional, thanks to its retro graphics that blend seamlessly with the bike’s overall look. Michael Blast advertises a range of 35 to 80 kilometers on a single charge, depending on your riding style and the level of pedal assistance.
In my experience, I managed to get 66 kilometers, mostly using pedal assistance levels 2 and 3. Whether you’re commuting or cruising, the Ponyboy’s battery will get you where you need to go.
Plus, the battery is easily removable, making it convenient to charge or transport.

Comfort and Handling: A Smooth Ride

The Ponyboy isn’t just about looks and power—it’s designed for comfort, too. The BMX-style handlebars, paired with a large, gel-like saddle, offer a relaxed and enjoyable riding experience.
The bike’s 20-inch wheels, fitted with fat INNOVA urban tires, provide excellent shock absorption, making your ride smoother even on rougher terrains. The bike is lightweight, weighing just 24 kg without the battery and 32 kg with it, making it easy to maneuver.

Braking and Safety: Stopping on a Dime

Safety is paramount on any bike, and the Ponyboy doesn’t disappoint. Equipped with hydraulic JAYFICLE brakes, this bike offers excellent stopping power with 180mm and 160mm rotors.
The brakes are well-adjusted, feature cut-off sensors, and even have a transparent fluid compartment—something you don’t typically see on budget e-bikes. Whether you’re riding in the city or on more challenging terrain, the Ponyboy’s braking system will keep you safe.

User Experience: The Little Things Matter

One-speed e-bikes can be hit or miss, but the Ponyboy’s electric support more than makes up for its lack of gears. The bike’s design, while not ideal for taller riders, is perfect for those who are 150 to 190 cm tall.
The integrated lights, including a small but effective headlight and a blinking brake light, ensure visibility during night rides. And let’s not forget the optional front and rear racks, which are a must-have if you plan to use the Ponyboy daily.
